I am a graduate student and a teaching fellow in English department at the University of Houston. Born and raised in India, I earned a B.A. and an M.A. in English literature from the University of Delhi before moving to Houston in 2022. 

 

My dissertation "Claims in Custody: Genres of Human Rights in the Global Anglophone" analyzes twentieth and twenty-first century literary and visual texts, alongside legal archives, to argue that law continues to govern through 'genres' that far outlive its claims. The central argument of my project turns on the double movement inherent in the term 'remediation' - as redress and as (re)mediation - anchoring my work in law, literature, politics, and aesthetics.

My research and teaching expertise span Critical theory, Postcolonial and global Anglophone literatures, legal and political philosophy, adaptations, Human rights studies, border studies, Caribbean and Black diaspora studies, and visual and media studies among others. My work has appeared in Unwritten Lives, LLIDS, and The Thinker.
